The History of Faith United Church

Faith United Church of Ada was founded in 1970, when, after several years of prayer, discussion, and debate, the congregations of First Methodist and First Congregational (UCC) churches of Ada voted to become one congregation with a shared ministry.

On September 13th, 1970 members of the two churches met, each at their own church building. They then marched to Thorpe Avenue where they merged into one body and walked to the newly constructed building. This was the new home of Faith United Church and the start of their spiritual journey together.

The Faith United Women

The Women of Faith United Church meet once a month for devotion, planning and organizing upcoming church events. The women provide coffee and treats during fellowship time prior to Sunday Worship. They also serve lunch for the residents of the local nursing home when the pastor leads worship.

Each Christmas, the women deliver treats to shut-ins and residents in the nursing home. In the Spring, they organize a program and lunch for our Annual Spring Gathering. One of the most anticipated events at Faith United Church is our Annual Bazaar in November. The Bazaar is our major fundraising event. The women dedicate their time to selling baked goods, candies and tickets for our raffle. The proceeds from the Bazaar are donated to various local charities and organizations.

The Faith United Women meet at the church on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 3:00 pm
